Yarmouth Boys Start The 2019-20 Season Off With A Win vs. Kennebec at Colby

The Clippers rolled to a 6-2 victory over the Kennebec Riverhawks on a rare Colby College game this Tuesday. The Hawks opened up the scoring for the night with a controversial scrum in front of the net that resulted in a 1-0 lead for the home team. Matt Robichaud (’22) promptly responded with a final minute top shelf rocket to close out the first. Although the score was tied, Yarmouth was confident in their abilities.

As the play returned to even strength, the Clippers let up a breakaway goal off of an unfortunate bobble at the point. The two teams were, once again, tied halfway through the contest. The Yarmouth boys were quick to respond when Grondin finished a beautiful slot pass off the stick of Aidan Miller. The boys went into the second intermission smelling blood in the water and it was apparent that Kennebec had met their match.

Grondin put on a clinic in the third as he scored two more goals, including a beautiful break to the goal right off of a face-off to cap of his hat trick. Between the two Grondin beauties was an equally impressive rebound goal by Robichaud which would bring his total to two for the night.

Make that 3 for #7 Isaac Grondin (’22).

In the end, the Sophomore class lead the way to an impressive season opener. The boys face league opponent Greely at Falmouth Family Ice at 7:10, December 12th.
