The combined Yarmouth-Greely JV team faced Maranacook in the opening round of the Casco Bay Junior Varsity League on Friday night. The teams battled to a 2-2 tie in regulation with Emmett Herr and Jackson Caruso lighting the lamp for Yarmouth-Greeley, which sent the game into sudden-death overtime.
The eight-minute, 3-on-3 OT period saw Yarmouth-Greely get the better of the scoring chances, but they could not find the back of the net and the teams remaining dead-locked. The ensuing shootout did not go Yarmouth-Greely’s way as they fell in the second round.
By virtue of their third-place finish in the regular season, Yarmouth-Greely’s playoff hopes remain alive and they will face #1 seed South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete in the second round of the playoffs this Friday night at 9:10 pm.
