Clippers Shut Down Gorham

Yarmouth rolled into Gorham’s rink and reeled off three goals in the first period while the YC Ultras made it feel like a home game.  Cooper May was the offensive leader for Yarmouth as he scored two goals and picked up two assists in the contest.

The win should move the Clippers back atop Class B South and sets the stage for a big showdown with York this Saturday.

On the opening goal, Cooper May fired a top corner shot on a power play to give the Clippers a 1-0 lead.  Noah Grondin picked up the assist.

Walter Conrad (May, Grant) then followed with another tally and May rounded out the first period scoring with yet another power play goal.  Conrad was credited with assist.

In the second period, a collision between Noah Grondin and Gorham netminder Brogan McDonald brought in Noah Bird who made a number of spectactular saves.  Due to Bird’s outstanding play, Yarmouth could not convert any scoring chances in the second period.

In the final two periods, Gorham took every chance to hit Noah Grondin, but could not shake him off his game.  Grondin continued to battle and made his presence felt throughout the game, which culminated in a third period power play goal to give the Clippers the 4-0 victory.  Conrad and May were credited with the assists.

Dan Latham turned away 27 shots and played his usual strong game for his second shutout of the year.  Graden Caulfield saw increased time on defense and played a solid physical game.  As usual, the YC Ultras took over the rink and showed that Yarmouth has the best fan base in the State.


The Clippers move on to a big matchup against York this Saturday at Travis Roy Arena.  Game time is 7:10 pm.
