The Clippers dominated the first two periods against the Greely Rangers, but a lackluster final period kept fans on the edge of their seats. Yarmouth struck first when Cooper May dished the puck on a 2 v 1 break to Patrick Grant who deked Greely netminder Joe McDonald for the goal.
Throughout the first period, Yarmouth had a number of scoring opportunities, but McDonald played a solid game in net and continually turned away the Clippers’ bids. Yarmouth took the 1-0 lead into the locker room.
In the second period, Bill Jacobs finally put a shot behind McDonald when he fired a wrister in the low right corner. Walter Conrad picked up the assist. Although Yarmouth kept play in the Greely zone, a lack of traffic in front of McDonald made his job much easier and kept the Rangers in the game.

In the third period, Greely came out flying and the Clippers seemed to go into a shell. A quick, low-angle shot cut the lead in half at 1:29 into the third period and until the final seconds, Greely kept pressing. However, the Clippers’ defense was up to the task and Yarmouth was able to pull out the win.

It felt like a home game as the YC Ultras took over yet another rink.

Yarmouth travels to the University of Southern Maine for a game against Gorham on Monday at 12:40 pm.
